Winterthur Cricket Club!\n\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Founded in 1982 the Winterthur Cricket Club plays cricket in the Swiss town of Winterthur, approximately 25 kilometres east of Zurich and is fully associated to\u00a0Cricket Switzerland<\/a>\u00a0(CCH).<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Winterthur is one of the few Swiss clubs that play cricket on a permanent “non-turf” cricket pitch, located at\u00a0Sportpark Deutweg<\/a>\u00a0in Winterthur.<\/p>

The cricket season runs from April through to early October. Home matches are usually played on a Sunday and usually begin at 12.30pm.\u00a0<\/p>

Training night is every Wednesday evening, starting anytime after 6pm and continues until it begins to grow dark –\u00a0sometimes longer thanks to the floodlights.
And following training there is social gathering in a restaurant local to the ground. This is usually the best way to meet the regular members of the club.<\/p>

Obviously practice does not continue all year round, but the gathering in the evening does!\u00a0
Winterthur Cricket club participates in the national league, of which it was champions in 2000 and in 2002, the domestic Mr. Pickwick Cricket Twenty20 Cup, T20 competitions, has hosted it\u2019s very own annual cricket festival, and travels on tour to European destinations, such as Italy, France,\u00a0England, Czech Republic and Germany.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The club also has quite an extensive\u00a0social side\u00a0which has in the past included such events as bowling evenings, BBQs and Brunches, Men’s Only Night, Club Ski-Weekend, Bowling,\u00a0Billiards and numerous other events.<\/p>

Winterthur is also the adopted home of the regional youth team, the\u00a0Zurich Crickets Cricket Club<\/a>.<\/p>

The Club attracts members from all over the county of Zurich, from towns surrounding the lake of Zurich, and the counties of Aargau, Thurgau and Schaffhausen.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

A modest\u00a0membership fee<\/a>\u00a0is charged to assist in financing the club and its activities (50% reduction for under 18’s)\u00a0 and keep the club supplied with its own club kit and the expensive business of renting the ground.<\/p>

Membership is split into two categories, Active, for those that wish to participate in the cricketing aspect and Passive, for those that are purely interested in the social side.<\/p>
